In February 2014 NH Hotel Group requested C&R Hospitality Services to take control of the Project Management for the refurbishment of the NH Collection Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky. In 2013, NH and AXA Real Estate agreed to transform the Krasnapolsky into a new NH Collection and execute an extensive refurbishment of 295 rooms and almost all its Common Areas.
The design of the rooms was done by the Spanish Designer Ramon Esteve, executing designer was DDock Architects in Amsterdam and for the F&B outlets and the new lobby the British design Studio Proof was responsible for the designing challenge.
The Hotel consists 52 different buildings which have been built and altered throughout its 150 years of existence. This complex refurbishment project was a real challenge to all involved, the 5-star Hotel, its F&B outlets and Meeting facilities were to be kept open for guests during the refurbishment. Therefore the project was executed in 8 different phases; 5 for the rooms and 3 for the Public Areas and Meeting Rooms. In addition three new kitchens were implemented and three new food concepts developed by H-Hospitality, with two new designed restaurants and a new Bar. In two areas extensive foundation repairs were needed, in addition to large structural improvements, required to meet the new structural demands of the building.
In April 2016 the NH Collection Brand was officially introduced in the Netherlands with the re-opening of NH Collection Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky in its new appearance.
